Dawson Armstrong wins three-man, six-hole playoff at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open presented by Syndeo

News

WICHITA, Kansas – Dawson Armstrong, from Spring Hill, Tennessee, prevailed in a three-man playoff and claimed victory at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open presented by Syndeo. It is Armstrong’s first TOUR-sanctioned victory since the 2019 Windsor Championship on PGA TOUR Canada, and he moves to No. 6 on the PGA TOUR Americas Points List.

Starting the final round five strokes behind third-round leader Harry Lord (Rossendale, England), Armstrong carded just one bogey in a 2-under 68, one of just 12 rounds under par on a day where winds gusted over 40 mph. Armstrong was the first to post a 12-under total, and he was followed by Lord and Corey Pereira (Sacramento, California) to form the three-man playoff.

The trio parred each of the first three playoff holes (Nos. 18, 18, 17) before Lord bowed out with a bogey on No. 18. After pars on the fifth playoff hole (No. 17), Pereira hit his tee shot out of bounds on No. 18, while Armstrong hit an 8-iron from 183 yards to set up his title-clinching birdie on the par 4.

Entering this week, Armstrong had made 160 TOUR-sanctioned starts since turning pro in 2018. The 30-year-old and his wife, Sam, had their first daughter seven months ago, and last month they had a conversation about their future.

“I want to do whatever I can to support my wife in being a mother,” Armstrong said. “I want to do whatever I can in being the provider for the family and her be the best mother and wife that she can possibly be. We kind of came to a decision that if I wasn’t back on the Korn Ferry Tour by the end of 2026, then the clubs would go up in the attic.”

“I was in shambles in 2023 and 2024, in absolute shambles,” Armstrong said. “The (emotional) release was, it was a lot of just the validation that I can finish it off, I can stay in contention and I can finish it off.”
